PROJECT UNPRECEDENTED AFRICA
Project Unprecedented Africa is a community-based empowerment initiative that aims to create a community that thinks about and discusses solutions. The topic of this initiative was ‘Unveiling the Potentials of Ghanaian Youth’.
A group of vibrant young men and women focused on the future of Ghanaian youths, embarked on a two-day training session at Jumapo, a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The goal was to maximize individuals’ potential to collectively improve the economic standards of youths especially females in the locality. We believe that it is within our mortal power to end the contradiction of poverty amid plenty, and scarcity in abundance.
According to the findings of our research, about eighty-five percent (85%) of the females in the area were unemployed. This indicated that the majority of the women in the town lacked financial independence, which may become a permanent cycle if precautions are not taken. As a result, we chose to organize and hold training sessions at Jumapo.
The training sessions included hairdressing, baking, and makeup lessons which are lucrative businesses. At the end of the training, three ladies from the community were given full scholarships to attend the All Nations International Development Agency (ANIDA) to further their vocational skills training.
The program was a success. And in ten years, we believe that almost half of the women in Jumapo will be financially independent with the hope that, these vocations will be employed in their locality to boost their economic standards.
